Volunteering opportunities

Being a volunteer is a rewarding way to support our community and can improve your health and wellbeing in many ways.

Volunteering is a great way to make friendships and new social contacts. It can help boost your self-esteem and life satisfaction as you develop new skills and gain a sense of accomplishment, purpose and meaning. Many volunteer roles, such as conservation work or community event assistance, encourage physical activity.

Whilst they might not hold regular activities at our Village Centre, we have a number of charities and organisations who have committee meetings here. There is always a need for volunteers to help with events, fundraising, publicity, admin and more. Giving your time and support could make a big difference to our community - contact the organisations below to find out how you can get involved.

Stoke Poges Village Centre

Behind the scenes, our village hall is overseen by a team of volunteer trustees and a small number of part-time staff. As well as giving back to society and doing something worthwhile, volunteering helps in developing new skills and providing a sense of community – all of which contribute to our overall wellbeing. If you would like to help in any way then we would love to hear from you! We are always pleased of an extra pair of hands to help at events or to support the day-to-day running of the Village Centre – let us know if you’d like to get involved.

BucksVision - South East Division

BucksVision was founded in 1911 and our mission is to make a positive difference to the lives of blind and partially sighted people by providing support, advice, social activities and the skills to enable them to reach their full potential and lead independent lives.

Our division supports people with sight loss across the areas of Beaconsfield, Burnham, Denham, The Farnhams, Iver, Gerrards Cross, Stoke Poges and Taplow. We have two monthly clubs where members can enjoy entertainment, lunches, and other activities. Our team of dedicated volunteers, who are fully vetted and trained, are also able to offer additional types of assistance to members who may need equipment support at home, or befriending services.

Everyone has something different to give. Whether it’s an hour a month or a regular commitment, we’ll help you find a role where you can make a positive difference and feel part of the BucksVision family.

Join the Friends of Stoke Common in 2026 and take part in hands-on conservation tasks that protect this unique landscape. No experience necessary - all welcome! Monthly sessions (typically the first Saturday of the month) from 10am - 3pm, commit what time you can spare.

Stoke Poges, Wexham & Fulmer Horticultural Society

Our local horticultural society was established in 1884, and is renowned for its annual Summer Show. Volunteers are always needed to help with the set-up and running of the show - it's a huge task to stage such a special event, but many hands make light work! We'd love to hear from you if you can spare a couple of hours or more to support us.
